ABOUT
Orsa Studio is a Paris-based research-driven material design studio founded by Paolina Kühr. The studio develops regenerative material systems at the intersection of biology, design and craft, with a focus on post-extractive production.
Working across scientific research, material experimentation and applied design, Orsa Studio investigates how living systems can inform new modes of manufacturing. Rather than treating materials as inert resources, the studio approaches them as dynamic processes shaped by ecological relationships.
Paolina studied biology at Freie Universität Berlin and Università degli Studi di Milano before completing a Master’s degree in Design through New Materials at Elisava in Barcelona, where she first developed the Sea Glass material as part of her graduate research, a project that later received several awards. Her work bridges scientific inquiry and material practice, and has been developed in collaboration with research institutions, laboratories and artisans. She was a resident at the Jan van Eyck Academie, where she further expanded her research into regenerative glass systems.
The studio collaborates with cultural institutions and selected brands on limited series, installations and research-driven commissions.
